I found myself “sleep-walking” through airport security at 4 a.m. 😴 Why do vacations always start so early in the morning!? Well, it’s a small price to pay to kick off an amazing trip. And trip is the right word, this is not a vacation. A vacation lasts a week or two and you can eat and drink, and damn the consequences, cause soon you’re back to reality. Not this time, this time I’m traveling for 100 days.
First stop, a few days in San Diego. We saw some interesting books at the airport. However we all wanted a casual first night, so we found Baja Betty’s and enjoyed Taco Tuesday.

After a good night’s rest, and more importantly, waking up at a reasonable time, we started our adventure. And what better place to have an adventure than the Comic-Con Museum! Despite the name most of the exhibits were tech-related rather than comics, although there was a great Excelsior exhibit showcasing Stan Lee’s life. I’m a techy geek at heart and I admit I loved seeing quotes from some of my heroes, like Asimov, Tesla, and Roddenberry. Of course, I’m also a goofball at heart convinced my wife to do the YMCA at a picture booth – we laughed the whole time. Oh and I love taking selfies, it’s probably because “most” people don’t like them so I run in the opposite direction and take them every chance I get.

I can’t visit San Diego without visiting the Pacific Ocean, that’s like living in Virginia Beach and not going to the beach. Unthinkable! We drove out to the Sunset Cliffs and spent the evening walking around and watching the sun sink in the sky until it disappeared beneath the horizon bidding our side of the world good night. I had a marvelous time and got so many pictures, more than I can even really put here. Here are some highlights, including two panoramic pictures that really captured the setting (pro tip you can click on any picture to see a full size version).

How can you top those gorgeous views and sunset??! You can’t.
Next up we visited Old Town. Even though it was early October, Old Town was decorated for the Day of the Dead celebration in early November. We walked around the area and got some great pictures, even had my parents photobomb our selfie. 😂

We made our last day in San Diego low key and went to a small craft fair. Not a lot of pictures but still a good time.

Hello Kitty! Have a great adventure and stay weird!
